The 24 Hour Experience

Herbfarm summer gardener, Lanie.

Thank you for your interest in The Herbfarm Restaurant.

The 24 Hour Herbfarm Experience is typically offered Thursday through Sunday, from May through the end of September.

A typical day for our 24 Hours at the Farm begins between 8-10am (your choice), helping the farmers with animal care, harvesting for the night’s menu for the kitchen team, seeding, weeding, transplanting, or whatever else is needed on the farm that day. Throughout the farm team is there to support you in what you want to watch and learn. A picnic luncheon will be delivered by the chefs to enjoy on the farm.

After lunch, you’ll deliver your harvest to The Herbfarm kitchen team and may spend time observing the chefs during their preparation for dinner. After that you are free to take advantage of spa time, a walk or bike ride along the Burke-Gillman Trail, or a relaxing stroll around the gardens. Or you may retire to your room to rest and get cleaned up before dinner.

We invite you to join us forty-five minutes before dinner for the Wine Cellar Open House and an introductory talk about the restaurant and garden tour. Dinner is 9-courses of local seasonal foods matched with Pacific Northwest wines, beers or hand-crafted non-alcoholic botanicals. Menus have themes that change every few weeks and each four-hour dining experience is accompanied with live guitar.

After dinner your room awaits so you can relax and relish your well-deserved night's sleep!

The price of the experience includes a Willows Lodge "Nicer room” and an autographed copy of The Herbfarm Cookbook or Herbal Kitchen. An upgrade to an Herbfarm Suite is possible depending on availability.

We look forward to serving you.

The Heart of Woodinville Wine Country

In 1923, Seattle lumber baron Frederick Stimson built a country home and hunting lodge in the Sammamish Valley east of Seattle. His manor house survives on the grounds of Chateau Ste. Michelle, one of America’s leading wineries.

These days, the duck hunting in the valley has been replaced by hunting for fine wines. Within a couple of miles of The Herbfarm are nearly 30 wineries. The New York Times named DeLille Cellars “Winery of the Year.” Columbia Winery has been instrumental over the last 25 years in introducing new grape varietals to the state. Master of Wine, Bob Betz, crafts big reds at his new Betz Family Winery.

Ernst Loosen comes twice a year to create “Eroica,” a marvelous joint venture Riesling. Italy’s Piero Antinori has been crafting his Col Solare here, too. Come and join the fun!

One of the world’s great escapes awaits on the tip of Vancouver Island

We’ve known Frederique and Sinclair Philip, owners of the Sooke Harbour House, for many years. Over those years they’ve created one of the best and most interesting inns and restaurants in the world.

Their Vancouver Island country inn on the sea looks south across the Strait of Juan de Fuca at the snow-crowned Olympic Mountains. With the clean smell of the sea and the sound of lapping waves, this is a place to pleasure your senses, excite your palate, and renew and enrich your soul.

Your room (all are different) will be imaginatively fitted with fine artwork and furnishings, a cheerful wood-burning fireplace, and a spa tub for two. The internationally famous restaurant tempts with local wild seafood, mushrooms, game, kelp, and edible flowers and herbs from the inn’s own gardens.

Stroll the beaches, take a “seaweed tour,” renew in the spa, explore the abundant art, or delve into the 2,800 wine selections. Dinner is by candlelight. Breakfast is in your room. For magical details, visit sookeharbourhouse.com.
